The LHS ART Department is proud to announce the names of three LHS Art students that were chosen to receive  Honorable MEntions in this years 2015 Scholastic Art and Writing Competition. 
24 LHS Art Students participated in this years Scholastic Art and Writing competition this year among 1500 other competitors from around the state of Ohio.

National Honor Society induction  practice will take place Thursday during 1st period. 


All students interested in auditioning for this year's musical should sign up on the sheet outside Mrs. Riggs' room.

Ugly Christmas Sweater contest is being sponsored by Student Council on December 19.  The student with the ugliest sweater at each lunch will win a $10 Pizza Crossing gift certificate.  The staff member with the ugliest sweater will win a $10 Pizza Crossing gift certificate as well.

Key Club - There will be a KEy Club meeting after school today.  Also Key Club Winter Coat drive begins today.  This is for all students who wish to bring in new or gently used coats, hats, gloves and scarves to first period.  The ist period class with the most points will receive breakfast on December 18 during first period.

Project Safe and the Athletic Office is hosting Hoops for the Holidays.  Students are encouraged to wear an ugly Christmas sweater to the game and any student that brings a new toy, mittens, hts or scarfs will be admitted free to the game.  Varsity girls and boys both will be playing on Saturday evening.  Support the Chiefs and enjoy some holiday fun!

The challenge is on.  Join the athletic department to "Tackle Hunger".  The athletic department is challenging all clubs, groups, grade levels, classes, teachers, teams, students and employees to join forces for a great cause - tackling hunger.
A canned food drive is underway.  Sponsor a yard line or the end zone.  All sponsors will be recognized at the last home football game.
Check with your teachers, advisors and coaches to stop by the athletic office for more information.
Please accept the challenge and challenge others.
Support a great cause while helping the many families in need.

Beyond the Bell Pep Club - and LHS Student Council have organized Spirit Week next week, October 6 through October 10 in preparation for the BIG league football game against rival Jackson and the boys and girls cross country league championship meet.  Join together and show your Chieftain pride by participating in spirit activities all next week. 

We will be having a  Spirit Door competition judged by the Pep Club and Student Council Pres. and  VP.  Every classroom teacher is encouraged to participate with every classroom throughout the day.  judging will be based on:
1.Best Use of Space
2.Best school color usage
3.Most creative
4 Most spirited
5.Best overall

The winning teacher will receive a First Place ribbon (and bite size candy to pass to the classrooms if OKAY.  BTB will purchase.

The Southeast Ohio Food Bank is holding a Logan versus Nelsonville challenge this Saturday from 9:00 to noon to kickoff beat Nelsonville week.  Students, athletes, coaches and staff are invited to help pack food boxes.  The challenge is on- which school will pack the most boxes.  Help our community conquer hunger by planning on helping out on Saturday. The mens Cross Country team  is petitioning for a PEP bus for their league meet on October 11th. If you would like to ride the the PEP bus to the Cross Country League meet in Galia stop by the Athletic Office to sign up.

Anti-Bully Poster Contest: Students at Logan High School are invited to spread the word by participating in an Anti-BullyingPoster contest.  The winning poster will be made into a billboard along SR 33.  You can be a positive force for change; your artwork can help remind people thatBULLYING is wrong.  If you are interested  you may pick up an entry form in the guidance office.

To all students wanting to ride the PEP bus to the Loudonville   football game: All permission slips and $4.00 ticket fees must be turned in to the Athletic office or Mrs. Huntsberger by the end of the day, today 9-16-14. 

Fit Club will resume on 9/22/14.Anyone interested in playing softball next year and is not currently in a fall sport.  The meeting is Wednesday 9/17 after school in room 257.  We will discuss individual instruction opportunities. 

Tae Kwon Do and Ju Jitsu are being offered Thursdays at 4:00  in the Beyond The Bell program.  The class is free and is being taught by a certified  instructor.  Registration forms can be picked up in the Athletic office. 

Congratulations to the boys golf team on winning their second strait SEOAL championship last night. Logan has ran its league record to 39-1 over the last two years.  Jacob Barstow was named Player of the Year and Logan Holbrook All-SEOAL. Team members are: Barstow, Holbrook, Hunter Fizer, Jared Walker, Paul Duffy, Kevin Boals and Nathan Kemmerer.

There is a mandatory Parent/Archer meeting on September 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Middle School. If your child is trying out for archery (even if they have been on a team in the past). Parents will receive information on when open archery begins, requirements for trying out, policy and procedure, introduction to the coaches for the 2014-2015 season and there will be a quick breakout session with the coaches.  If you cannot attend, please send a representative of your family to get the information for your child. This is like every other sport. THIS IS REQUIRED!  This program is for 4th-12th grade ONLY. Archers must be students of Logan Hocking Schools.

TO ALL BASEBALL PLAYERS WHO DO NOT PLAY A FALL SPORT: There will be lifting after school next week on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. If you have any questions please see Coach Sutton in room 247. 

This a reminder to all students that they are not to wear or possess hats while in the building. After the tardy bell rings for first period, all hats should be inside book bags or locked in lockers.  Hats may not be clipped outside book bags or worn on belts.

Parking Passes: Students are reminded they must have purchased a parking pass in order to park in the student lot.  Students are not permitted to park anywhere but in the student lot next to the stadium.  Next Monday, parking permits must be displayed in student vehicles.  Students with passes need to report to Mr. Ramage when another person parks in the spot you have purchased a pass for.

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy will be offered beginning this fall and will take you through the process of brainstorming a business idea, writing a business plan, pitching your plan to investors, obtaining funding and launching a REAL business. Start as a student, and finish as the CEO of your own company!

An informational meeting will be held for YEA! on Tuesday August 26, 7:00 p.m. at the Logan Hocking Chamber of Commerce, 140 East Main St., Logan.

Any girl grade 9-11 interested in playing golf in the fall should plan to attend a meeting in Coach Williams' room (220) during the morning announcements on Friday, May 2, 2014. The summer practice and camp schedules will be distributed as well as the match schedule for the fall. If unable to attend, stop and see Coach Williams in room 220 before that day.

Open auditions for Hilltop Singers will be Monday, May 5 through Wednesday,

Strike Out Cancer Games: Come support the Softball, Baseball & Kick Cancer Club  Teams as they raise money for the American Cancer Society today @ 5 PM @ Logan High School Softball & Baseball fields.

A Boys Golf meeting will be held in the cafe after morning announcements on Wed., 4/23.


Any youth, age 16 or older, wishing to work for the summer, the TANF Summer Youth Employment Program is now accepting applications. Students may pick up an application at South Central Ohio Job & Family Services, 389 W. Front Street in Logan, and will need to complete an eligibility application to see if they are eligible to participate.

Post Prom Tickets are on sale starting today during lunch periods in the cafe for $1.00 & you will receive a t-shirt! The event being sponsored by Beyond the Bell & Hope Blooms will have a Red Carpet/Movie Night theme and include many activities including a Mechanical Bull, Inflatable Twister, Photo Booth, Outdoor Movie Screen, food & opportunities to win a variety of prizes plus much more!



Student matinee tickets for the 11th annual Talent Show, Thursday 4/17 during periods 8 & 9 will be on sale Monday through Wednesday this week in the Athletic Office for $3 each or $2 with renaissance card. No tickets will be sold after 1pm on Wednesday, so don't delay!

Students taking the ACT this Saturday are reminded to take your admission ticket, 2 number 2 pencils, an approved calculator and a photo ID. If you do not have a photo ID, see Mrs. Tootle in the guidance office for an Identification letter.

The KICK CANCER CLUB is having an egg stuffing party on Monday, April 7th in the cafeteria (after school). If you can stay to help, it will be considered community service time. Pizza & pop will be provided afterwards for those helping.


Students who have been accepted to Tri-County next year, are reminded that you and your parents should attend the dinner at Tri-County on  Thursday, April 10th at 6:00 pm. After dinner, you and your parents will visit your lab.

Boys interested in playing boys soccer this fall can pick up a spring schedule from Coach Riddlebarger in room 154.


American Red Cross Blood Drive is Monday, April 7th. To donate, you must be at least 16 years old (with parental permission), and sign up in the nurses office with Mrs. Kennard periods 1-4 through Friday, April 4th.


Come show off your Super-hero skills @ the Superhero 5k, Saturday, May 10th. The run/walk starts @ 9am. The event is sponsored by the Senior Bio-med Class with all proceeds going to the Hope Blooms Foundation. Registration forms are in the Athletic Office & also in Mrs. Barry's room. Students may participate for free!


The Prom Pledge Impact is tomorrow, Friday, April 4th at  Ohio University in Athens. All juniors & seniors will be attending. Bus assignments are posted outside of the Guidance Office. Buses will leave at approximately 9:15 am & return around 1pm.

Freshmen: The Freshman Class Dance is Saturday, April 5th from 7-10 pm in the high school cafeteria, with doors opening @ 7. The dance is for LHS freshmen.
*If you want to bring a guest from another school or grades 10-12 @ LHS, you will need special permission from Mrs. Schultheiss. 
*You must have a ticket to attend (& bring it with you).  Tickets are $10 per person & are available to purchase during lunch periods Wednesday, April 2nd through Friday, April 4th.
*What to wear - formal or evening casual attire (boys-dress slacks & a tie are fine). 
*Portrait order forms will be available at the ticket sales table with money & forms due to the photographer at the dance.
*To be on TV-2, you must enter through the main entrance of the high school.

The Generation Now Beyond the Bell group will be accepting donations for the local dog shelter. These donations will be used to sponsor Pull Fees for rescues. The donation jar will be made available during 4th period lunch or in the Athletic Office, Thursday, Feb. 20th to the 27th.

Yearbooks will be on sale in the cafeteria Tues. Jan. 21 through Fri. Jan. 24 during lunch periods.  The cost is $60.  Buy yours before the price goes up to $70 on March 1.  See Mrs. Barry if you have questions.


Class rings may be ordered on Tuesday, January 21 during lunch periods.  Ring books are available in the athletic office.
