PSAT
All juniors interested in furthering their education to a 4 year college and qualifying for National Merit Scholarships:

PSAT/NMSGT will be offered on Wednesday, October 14, periods 1-6.
Cost is $15.00.  Sign up in the guidance office by Friday, October 9.  Cash or check payable to LHS.  For further information go to www.collegeboard.org/psat.

Battle Over Books
Anyone interested in joining the Battle Over Books competition should fill out the sign up sheet in Mr. Taulbee's room 144.  

  
There will be a thespian Troupe officers meeting on Monday, September28th in room 316.  All officers should attend.  

There will be a full Thespian Troupe meeting on Wednesday, September 30th in room 316.  All members should  attend, and remember to bring your date choice for the Haunted Corn Maze.  The meeting will last no later than 3:15.

Volley For A Cure T-shirts are available for purchase during all lunch periods this week.  They are $8 each or two for $15.  The shirt will get you free admission to Monday nights home volley ball game vs. Vinton County. 

Those students that are interested in being a member of this years Key Club -that's for grades 9-12 - should meet in room 202 after the mornings announcements on Thursday, September 24.

Boys Basketball - Open gym - Tuesdays & Thursdays
                             Individual workouts - Mondays Wednesdays
                             Auxilary gym 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm
                        
Individual instruction will begin on Wednesday Sept. 9.
Sign up sheets are located in room 259 for girls and room 163 for boys. 
Athletes not currently participating in a fall sport can sign up for a time slot. 


The deadline to register for the October 24 ACT test is Friday 9/18.  It is HIGHLY recommended that high school seniors take the October ACT as these scores are used to determine college acceptance and scholarship eligibility.  It is also recommended that high school juniors take the test at least twice during their junior year.  Students can register online at www.actstudent.org.  testing site will be at Miller High School.  The testing site number for Miller High School is 231270. 

There will be a read through of the latest version of Pirate Girl on Wednesday, September 9th from 2:45 to 5:15 in the theatre.  Any interested student is welcome to attend.
