REMINDER TO ALL STUDENTS:  All bus pusses must be approved through the transportation department due to overcrowding on most busses.  Parents must call the bus garage to arrange bus passes. 

Order your 2015-2016 yearbook now.  Yearbooks can be ordered at www.smart-pay.com or order forms can be picked up in the main office or in room 219.  The cost is $60.00 until December 31.  
Senior pictures for the yearbook are due to Mrs. barry by February 29.  

Kick Cancer Club would like to invite anyone that would like to help or needs community service time to stay after school today and tomorrow to make Christmas cards for cancer survivors in Hocking, Muskingum and Vinton Counties.  All help will be most appreciated.

Cinderella Audition Workshop- Anyone interested in auditioning for Cinderella, the Spring musical, should plan to attend an audition workshop to find out what will be expected of you in your audition.  Audition packets are available in the choir room at any time.

Reminder to all wrestlers:  Mandatory parent meeting is scheduled for Monday November 9th at 6:00 p.m.  All parents must attend. Coach Straus will meet with parents at the conclusion of Mrs. Schultheiss' meeting.  

Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership applications are available in the Guidance office.  HOBY is a three day seminar in the Spring that  is an opportunity for high school sophomores to develop leadership skills with some of the top students all over Ohio.  Check your EMAIL for more details and pick up an application in the guidance office to apply.  Applications are due by November 16th.

From the guidance office: Logan High Schools annual college fair is this Thursday, November 5 from 4:30 to 6:30.  All students grades 9-12 are encouraged to attend.  There will also be a financial aid advising session in the lecture hall from 5:30 to 6:30.  

For students that are eligible for National Honor Society, packets are now available on the front counter of the guidance office.  Students are encouraged to begin working on the packet as soon as possible because applications are due on Friday, November 13, 2015.  No packets will be accepted LATE.

A list of students eligible for induction into the Logan High School National Honor Society is posted posted outside of the guidance office.  Sophomores students with a 3.75 or above cumulative grade point average, and Junior and Senior students with a 3.50 or above cumulative grade point who have attended Logan High School for at least one full semester are eligible to apply.  Students re asked to please stop by and check the list for eligibility. Oversights and errors should be brought to the immediate attention of Ms. Norway.  Applications for students wishing to apply for membership in the National Honor Society will be available in the guidance office next week.

Blood Drive/Mobile
Staff and students ages 16 and up may sign up in the main office for the bloodmobile scheduled for November 17.  Please see Amy to make an appointment.

Anyone who ordered a Powder Puff T-shirt needs to pay Wendy in the Athletic office.  Senior shirts are $12 and Junior shirts are $14.  All money must be in by Tuesday, November 3rd.

There will be a full Thespian troupe meeting on Wednesday, October 28 after school in room 316.  All members are expected to attend.  Please plan to share your showcase performance plans at the meeting.  See Mrs. Riggs with questions.

Pre-sale tickets for Friday night's football game at DeSales are on sale all week in in the  athletic office.  Cost is $5 for students and $6 for adults.  

There will be a parent meeting for all those interested in archery on October 21st at the middle school at 7:00p.m..  This meeting is mandatory and parents will be able to meet the coaches, pick up necessary paperwork, get details on practices, tryouts, participation fees, etc...

Boys tennis fall open courts: Boys interested in playing tennis in the spring should stop by room 161 this week to see Coach Seimer for information regarding fall open courts, which will begin next week after school.

Individual instruction will begin on Wednesday Sept. 9.
Sign up sheets are located in room 259 for girls and room 163 for boys. 
Athletes not currently participating in a fall sport can sign up for a time slot. 


The deadline to register for the October 24 ACT test is Friday 9/18.  It is HIGHLY recommended that high school seniors take the October ACT as these scores are used to determine college acceptance and scholarship eligibility.  It is also recommended that high school juniors take the test at least twice during their junior year.  Students can register online at www.actstudent.org.  testing site will be at Miller High School.  The testing site number for Miller High School is 231270. 

There will be a read through of the latest version of Pirate Girl on Wednesday, September 9th from 2:45 to 5:15 in the theatre.  Any interested student is welcome to attend.

Beyond the Bell is offering an online ACT Prep course.  You must sign up in the guidance office and pick up a Beyond the Bell Registration form by Friday 8/28.

There will be an informational meeting about the fall play, Pirate Girl, on Wednesday, September 2nd.  Two meetings are scheduled- one at 2:45, and then again at 5:00- in room 316.  You need only need to attend ONE of the meetings - pick the one that best fits your schedule.  Come and learn what it takes to be part of this years fall play.  This meeting id for acting and crew positions.      

The Senior class will be selling student section shirts during lunches this Tuesday, August 25 through this Friday, August 28.  Prices will range from $6- $9, depending on the size.

Parking permits are available in the main office.  Cost is $20.  Please have license plate number and drivers license with you.  These may be purchased before school and during lunch periods.  All students driving to school must having a parking permit by Wednesday, August 26.

Plan on attending Friday nights football game at Athens.  Pre-sale tickets will be sold all week during lunch in the athletic office.  Tickets are $5.00.


Picture Day is this Friday, August 28.  Picture packet information was handed out the first day of school.  Additional packets are available in the main office.  

Beyond the Bell is now registering for the 2015-2016 school year.  Many activities offered after school including: Guitar lessons, Tae Kwon Do, Disc golf and Zumba, community service clubs such as the Kick Cancer Club and Hope Blooms.  Tutoring and study tables are always available.  Registration forms are available in the activities office, guidance office and room 116.  See Mrs Huntsberger in room 116 with any questions.  

Student Council: Petitions to be on the ballot for class officer and student council positions are available in the guidance office.  Completed petitions are due no later than this Friday, at 2:30 p.m.

The first full Thespian Troupe meeting will be Wednesday, August 26th at 2:30 p.m.in room 316.

ACT Practice sessions will start on May 4 and run through May 21.  Classes will be from 2:30-3:30 in room 119 with Mrs. Burns.   Stop by room 119 to sign up.

Senior Baccalaurete will be held Sunday, May 17 at 2:00 in the theatre.  Former OSU player and coach, Anthony Schlegle will be the guest speaker for the event. This is open to the public and seniors are asked to wear their caps and gowns.

From Mrs. Riggs:  There will be no stage Combat Club for Beyond The Bell today.  The club will resume next Friday, May 1.

There will be a Flex Credit meeting for any students that is interested in pursuing Flex Credit for the 2015-16 school year on Tuesday, April 14 at 5:00 p.m. in the lecture hall.

Prom tickets are on sale through April 17.  The cost is $10 each or $25 including dinner.  Please purchase your dinner tickets as soon as possible to take advantage of this new opportunity to enjoy a great meal and to cut down on travel time before the prom.

This is a reminder that all juniors and seniors that are in attendance on Friday April10th, will be attending the field trip to Ohio University for IMPACT 2015.  Pizza lunch is provided. Bus assignments are hung on the windows outside of the Guidance Office and the Library window to the right of the library doors.  Departure time is 9:15 am, return 1:30 pm.     


There will be a FLEX Credit Meeting for any student interested in pursuing Flex Credit  for the 15-16 school year on Tuesday,  April 14at 5:00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall.  

Volleyball meeting scheduled for today is cancelled and rescheduled for Thursday after school.

The biomedical sciences Seniors are hosting a 5K to promote healthy lifestyles and drug abuse awareness.  This event will be held on Saturday May 9, LHS Cross Country course, and it will begin at 9:00 am..    All proceeds  benefit Hope Blooms.  All LHSD students are free thanks to the PEP grant.  Registration forms are in the athletic office.  Pre-Register by April 24th to get a free T-shirt.

Seniors:  It is time to vote for Senior Superlatives and class flower, song, color and motto.  You will receive a senior class voting worksheet from your English teacher.  Use the woeksheet to make your choices, then vote online by using the link provided.  Online voting opens on Monday, March 23rd. 

American Red Cross Blood Drive sign -ups will be on 3/24 during lunch periods.  Blood drive will be 4/9/15.

Seniors: Representatives from Herff-Jones will be here on Thursday to hand out caps and gowns.  Please bring money to pay final balances. 

Juniors and Seniors: The junior/Senior Prom will be held on Saturday, April 25th at 7:00 p.m..  The theme for the 2015 prom is a Roaring Night in NYC.  Decorations will highlight an urban cityscape with a contemporary take on the roaring twenties.  Highlights of this year's prom includes a new DJ and an option to have a buffet dinner at the Urban Grille (formally the Brass Ring).

Ticket sales will begin on April 8th.  The cost of a prom ticket, including dinner will be $25 PER PERSON. Tax and tip are included.  The cost of a prom ticket with out dinner is $10.Refreshments will be served during the dance.  A photographer will be available for prom pictures at both the Urban Grille and the school.  This is the first year s formal dinners has been offered as part of the prom. There will be two dinner seatings available to choose from- one at 4:30 p.m. and one at 5:30 p.m.

Many National Honor Society students are available for one hour of tutoring this week.  If any LHS student would like help with homework we can assign an NHS member during your lunch period or during the 2 hours in the morning before school.      





The Prom Dress Recycling Program needs donations.  Please bring dresses to the Salon on Main at 160 E. Main St. or Logan Clay Priducts.  Dresses will be given away on Saturday April 21 from 9-4 at Logan Clay Products.  Call 385-7942 for further information.  

Sophomore Class fundraiser pick-up will be in on Wednesday,  March 25, in the guidance office, from 2:30 - 4:00.

All athletes participating in spring sports must attend the mandatory meeting with a parent Tuesday march 3 in the cafeteria.  Attendance is required for eligibility.  

Seniors- local scholarship applications are due on Monday, March 2, at 8 a.m..  All of YOUR applications should be turned in together in a folder.  Counselors will attach the transcripts.  Late applications will be marked and may not be processed.  

Boys track practice for those that are not competing in a winter sport starts on Monday.  Bring clothes and be prepared to go outside. 
Girls Varsity Track and Field will begin on March 2 from 2:45 - 5:00.  All athletes must have a completed physical to participate.  If you were unable to attend the information meeting, there is information regarding Girls Track and Field available in the Athletic Office.  If you have any questions, please EMAIL coach Sevcik.   


2nd Annual Spring Craft Show and More.  Saturday March, 7 from 9:00 - 3:00.  Many raffles and hourly door prizes.

Attention all students. Celebrate My Drive is paying for all high school students to attend the girls basketball game on Saturday night.  The Lady Chiefs can win the outright league championship with a win against the Lady Warriors of Warren.  This is a huge game for the girls and they invite all students to attend and cheer them on to a win.  If you are planning on attending, you must pick up a ticket  during lunch periods in the athletic office before the game. No free admissions will be granted on game day.

To All Sophomores: Remember to sell your five items to help raise money for the prom.  Money and orders are due in to Miss Norway in the guidance office on Friday, February 13.  

The Hope Blooms Organization will be holding a coat/hat/gloves and sock drive this week for the local shelters.  Students who bring in these items will be invited to a pizza party after the meeting on Monday, February 9.  Students will need to be picked up after the meeting at PC.  Hope Blooms will be re-organizing on Monday, February 9.  If you have worked with this organization, please plan to attend,  Free items will be given out.  Also, friends are encouraged to attend.

Winter sports king and queen voting is now open until Friday at 2:30 p.m.. In order to vote please login to your school email and click on the link provided.  You may only vote once.   

Order your 2014-2015 LHS yearbook now.  Orders can be placed at Smart-pay.com or see Mrs. Barry in room 219 for an order form.  Order before February 14 when the price increases.  

Local scholarships will be passed out to seniors and made available to past graduates on February 2nd.  Completed applications will be due back on March 2nd, to the guidance office.  

Softball individual instruction will now be on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Middle school from 3:00 - 4:30.

Night school is being offered through Beyond The Bell beginning on Tuesday 1/20.  Classes are being offered in Algebra 1, English 1,2,&3.  Any students who failed the 1st and 2nd 9 weeks in these classes can recover credit this 9 weeks.

CURRENT SOPHOMORES & JUNIORS:  Ohio Business Week (OBW) is an exciting weeklong summer program that gives eligible high school students  from around the state unique, hands on experience with business and entrepreneurship.  Students learn directly from the pros how to establish and run their own company.  Hosted on a college campus, students are also able to experience what campus life is like, and lay the groundwork for a successful future,  If you are interested in attending OBW, please see Ms. Norway in the guidance office, or Mrs. Myers in room 202.
